After a year without concerts, Weymouth Sunday Concert's 2021/22 season will begin on Sunday, October 10 with a baroque concert.

The concerts will take place at Weymouth Bay Methodist Church in Melcombe Avenue from 3pm until 5pm.

The concert on October 10 will feature Duo Dorado: Hazel Brooks, violin, and David Pollock, harpsichord. Their programme mixes great composers, such as Bach, Handel and Vivaldi with rare treats from lesser-known composers of those times.

This will be followed, on November 7 by a flute and clarinet duo, Sirius Chau and Hugo Lau. Their varied programme will include one of the lovely Bachianas Brasilieras by Heitor Villa-Lobos.

On November 28, Jon Pickard will bring a harp-guitar, a beautiful instrument designed by himself, and take concert-goers on a fascinating journey through many guitar traditions into the realms of the harp-guitar.

To raise spirits after Christmas, Manu Brazo, saxophone, and Prajna Indrawati, piano, will play a concert on January 9.

This concert will be followed on February 20 by ‘Divine Fire’, the story of Chopin and authoress, George Sand, tracing their relationship from meeting to parting with words narrated by actor, Sue Porrett, and Chopin’s lovely music, performed on the piano by Viv McClean.

The season will conclude on March 20 with a concert by The Aurora Trio. The trio plays new works as well as the repertoire for these instruments, and their concert will include Debussy’s trio for flute, harp and viola.
