After 17 long months Dorchester Youth Theatre were delighted to be back performing to an audience, for their summer project SummerMT@DYT.

The event last year was cancelled due to Covid restrictions, and since March 2020 weekly rehearsal sessions were put on hold, being replaced by Zoom virtual meet-ups, finally back to face to face in mid April this year.

But this year’s project was not without its challenges. Halfway through the week, one of the leaders tested positive for Covid, and so the daily workshops had to be put on hold.

Not wanting to disappoint the 35 young people who had worked so hard towards creating and performing a production in 5 days; in line with ‘the show must go on’ - it was rescheduled for a fortnight later, performing outside at The Prince of Wales School in Dorchester.

One parent’s feedback after seeing the show was ‘Absolutely brilliant! DYT has produced another amazing production in such a short space of time.

'Most importantly DYT has given so many children a sense of purpose and support over this past year and a half. Thank you!’

Dorchester Youth Theatre meets weekly in term time for young people age 6-19 – we currently have some availability in our Junior Group (for children in School Years 4/5).
