IT was a pleasure to hear from so many of you after we featured local Weymouth institution Joy's newsagents in these pages last week.
It was in the autumn of 1957 that Betty and Bunny Joy bought the newsagents at Overcombe Corner.
Since then Joys went from strength to strength, adding a Post Office in the early 1960s and building up an army of loyal customers.

Graham Ryan got in touch to say that he used to deliver Dorset Evening Echoes for Joys in the 1960s when he was at school.
Dee Stabb tells us: "I remember this well. I worked for Burtie Back, about two shops along."

"Great shop and lovely Joy family who ran it," Trina Mortimer told us on our nostalgia Facebook group We Grew Up in Weymouth and Portland.
Elaine Louise remembers John Joy teaching at Weymouth College in the 1990s and Richard Sams was at school with John in the 1950s.
And thanks to Matthew Wildman for reminding us all of what a enduring shop Joys is by sharing a photo of it as it is today!
