A TAKEAWAY which was ordered to take action by food hygiene inspectors after rodents were seen at the premises has improved its hygiene rating.

U Takeaway, based on East Street in Blandford Forum, is a Chinese takeaway which has operated since May 2019.

The restaurant was originally visited by an inspector on Wednesday, May 19 who assessed its hygienic food handling, cleanliness and condition of facilities and building as well as its management of food safety - and issued a one rating.

The full report stated problems with the management of food safety including storage of wet chicken as well as rodents in the area.

A spokesman for the takeaway said that ‘massive improvements’ were made to the takeaway following the inspection and requested another visit to rescore his premises.

In a follow-up food hygiene inspection on Thursday, August 19, an inspector rescored the takeaway and gave it a four rating.

The inspector felt U Takeaway had made sufficient improvements to the business and was able to issue the new rating.

U Takeaway was previously given a four rating at previous inspections on August 8, 2019 and April 14, 2021.

The restaurant has had customers describe it as the 'best Chinese in town' with 'food always fresh, nice owners and decent prices'.
