DORCHESTER Town manager Robbie Herrera admitted he has designs on making the Avenue Stadium a “fortress”.

Second-placed Gosport Borough are their latest visitors tomorrow (3pm) as the Magpies look to improve their current Pitching In Southern League Premier South placing of 19th.

Dorchester have so far taken just three points from a possible 12, losing three times.

However, good displays at home against Beaconsfield, Salisbury and Weston have all been masked by narrow one-goal defeats.

And Herrera is keen for that trend to be reversed with a string of results, breeding fear into visiting teams.

He told Echosport: “It would be nice if we can make the Avenue a bit of a fortress and keep picking up results, so they know they’re in for a tough day.”

In the teams’ previous battle Dorchester won 2-1 in the FA Trophy, days before the second national lockdown kicked in last year.

On Gosport, Herrera added: “They’ve had a good start. I don’t think there are any easy games at this level.

“They will be coming full of confidence looking for three points like most teams.

“If we can get to the levels we have previously and show more resilience there’s no reason we can’t get a result against them.”

New signing Flavio Tavares could make his debut after joining from Blackfield and Langley in midweek.

Herrera said: “Flavio knows the level, he’s been at Salisbury, Hayes & Yeading and Poole as well.

“He’s sharp, gets on the ball and he can get at people. We’re looking for him to come in

and do a job – whether he starts is another matter.
“We’re always looking to bring in better quality than what we’ve got. We’ve got to keep pushing the club on.”

Dorchester are also close to adding a defensive signing, given injury doubts over Sam Davidson (ankle), Ash Wells (hamstring) and Tiago Sa (head).
