Let me get this straight.
Richard Grant (Dorset Echo Letters, 1/10/21) appears to be saying that low-paid workers should not be paid more, because they are feckless, greedy spenders and will waste their money, while firms will be forced to put prices up to maintain their profits, meaning everyone has to pay more and we’ll be back where we started.

Surely, then, the obvious solution is to stop paying these workers altogether and just provide them with basic food and clothing. I believe it’s called “slavery".
