WORK has started to transform half of a Dorchester town centre supermarket into a 24-hour gym, ahead of its opening next month.

Half of the Co-op store at The Forum Centre off Trinity Street is currently being converted into The Gym, which is a 24-hour and fitness centre.

The Gym, which will cover 663 square metres, will contain a mixture of rowing, running and cycling machines together with resistance weight machines.

Ahead of its opening in November, workers have now moved on to the site to fit out the new gym with a section around the site fenced off. Co-op store has remained open during the works.

Signage has already been installed above the unit as well as on the wall of the junction turning into the car park.

The Gym, to be based near the closed Salvation Army charity shop, will also offer an introductory monthly ‘do it’ membership for £14.99 for the first three months, which will give gym-goers access to the site’s facilities, personal training or instructor-led classes. The regular monthly membership price will be £19.99.

A ‘live it’ monthly membership will have an introductory offer of £19.99 for three months, which will have the benefits of the ‘do it’ membership, but will also allow members to bring a friend four times a month, access to fitness and body composition tracking and discounts.

Gym goers will be able to park in the nearby Trinity Street car park but will have to pay to park.
