AN online community for songwriters over 50 is hosting a workshop and concert in Weymouth this month.

Talent is Timeless, a celebrity backed viral age-positive online movement, is coming to Weymouth Pavilion to host an afternoon songwriting workshop followed by a concert by Saskia Griffiths-Moore on October 17.

The movement was founded by folk artist, Saskia Griffiths-Moore, aged only 28, as an online songwriting competition during the second lockdown in November 2020 which required every entrant to be aged 50 or over, in a bid to prove that ageism should be irrelevant in the music industry as well as to connect and inspire people across the country.

It went viral online and attracted backing from the likes of Kasabian’s Ian Matthews, and businesses like Caffe Nero.

Ian Matthews said: "I’m proud to support and be part of this initiative”

Pablo Ettinger, co-founder of Caffe Nero, said: “Caffe Nero is proud to support Talent is Timeless. Creativity and talent has no age boundaries”

Talent Is Timeless is now a free community for songwriters over the age of 50 to connect with like-minded people and to stay inspired throughout the year to continue creating new songs. They run masterclasses, live interviews with industry figures, songwriting workshops online and in the real world, and continue to push for opportunities for artists who are aged 50 and over.

An afternoon workshop is being hosted in Weymouth Pavilion is from 2pm to 5pm and is open to anyone over the age of 50. Tickets can be booked online on the Talent Is Timeless website(www.talentistimeless.com) or through the library.
