A BRIDPORT venue is hosting a day of 'music and solidarity' to raise money for local causes.

The Ropemakers on West Street, Bridport will be hosting 'We Shall Overcome' on Saturday, October 9 to raise funds for the Bridport Community Fridge and Cycling Without Age Bridport.

The event will feature a number of local musicians, choirs and poets giving their time to help raise money and awareness for local projects.

Cycling Without Age allows elderly people, care home residents and people with disability or access issues to go out on 'trishaw' cycle rides and Bridport Community Fridge, which takes food donations from the public and donates it to those in need.

Keith Hatch, one of the organisers of the event, said “We Shall Overcome is very much a pro-community initiative with events across the country aimed at supporting local projects. We have been organising the annual event since 2015 – and unfortunately the need hasn’t gone away.

“We would really encourage people to drop by on Saturday, enjoy some brilliant music, make a donation and find out how to get involved with these amazing projects.”

We Shall Overcome starts at 4 pm and runs until late on Saturday. Entry is free.
