Isn't it time Dorset Council gave its Local Plan a re-think?
At last week’s Conservative Party Conference, Boris Johnson pledged not to allow homes to be built on green fields.
The Prime Minister recognized fears that the countryside could be ‘desecrated by ugly homes’ - ugly homes that in the case of the proposed mass development of 4,000 houses north of Dorchester fail to include a guarantee of affordable housing and will desecrate a sensitive landscape rich in biodiversity, archaeological and cultural significance.
This landscape serves as the green lungs of Dorchester.
The Prime Minister’s pledge suggests that that the government is listening to the concerns of communities across Dorset that are opposed to the Local Plan.
MP for West Dorset, Chris Loder, is also an opponent of the planned development.
Ensuring housing is built in the right areas in line with local need rather than to central government determined targets could truly give us the beautiful homes Dorset deserves without degrading our environment.
