A PERSON was airlifted to hospital from a seaside town's car park after suffering injuries in a fall.

Lyme Regis Coastguard was called to assist a semi-conscious person in car park near Charmouth Beach in Charmouth at 3.56pm on Sunday (October 10).

Emergency services found that they had sustained spinal and head injuries after falling over and received medical treatment at the scene.

A coastguard helicopter with paramedics on board landed in the area to transport the person to the helicopter and was flown to Dorset County Hospital.

Emergency services, including Lyme Regis Coastguard, left soon after.

A spokesman for Lyme Regis Coastguard said: "Lyme Regis Coastguard was tasked to reports of a semi-conscious casualty in Charmouth beach car park.

"On arrival the casualty was conscious but had a spinal and head injury after falling over. Casualty care was given by the team and a landing site was set up as coastguard helicopter rescue 179 from Lee-on-the-Solent was in bound.

"Casualty care was handed over to the aircraft paramedics and with assistance from the coastguard team the casualty was carefully packaged up for the short flight to Dorset County Hospital for further treatment.

"Once the aircraft had taken off, the team returned to station. We wish the casualty a speedy recovery."
