A DORSET advisory service is urging anyone who is struggling financially and concerned about rising energy prices to contact them.

Citizens Advice in east Dorset and Purbeck is encouraging any residents who are worried about the uncertainty surrounding the energy market to reach out to them to access advice.

Energy prices are rising nationally as a result of increasing wholesale gas prices which has caused some suppliers to go bust, leaving customers unsure what to do.

Citizens Advice is assuring people that if their energy supplier has gone bust, their gas and electricity supply will not be cut off and they will be transferred to a new supplier, however, that will likely be more expensive.

Laura Wilcox, specialist energy adviser at Citizens Advice in east Dorset and Purbeck, said: "This can be a really worrying time, especially for people who are already struggling financially.

"We have a team of energy advisers who can help people who are experiencing financial difficulties with their energy costs."
