VARIOUS roads linking a key roundabout are set to close for two nights for repair works to be carried out.

Monkeys Jump Roundabout has recently been the subject of repairs after National Highways workers improved the road's drainage to resolve flooding in the area.

The key roundabout outside of Poundbury and Dorchester needs further resurfacing and as a result three roads near the roundabout will close from 8pm on Monday, October 18 until 6am on Wednesday, October 20.

The roads that will shut are A37 Dorchester Bypass between Monkeys Jump Roundabout and Weirs Roundabout, B3150 Bridport Road eastbound between Monkeys Jump Roundabout to the McDonald's entrance and Unnamed Road between Monkeys Jump Roundabout to the entrance of McDonald's.

Traffic will be unaffected travelling via the A35.

A public notice from Dorset Council adds: "This Notice will enable National Highways to carry out full resurfacing on Monkeys Jump Roundabout following their recent drainage works.

There will be multiple alternative routes, which will be sign posted is as follows:

  • The diversion for A37 Dorchester Bypass will go via B3147, Top of Town Roundabout, B3150 Bridport Road, B3150 Middle Farm Way and vice versa;
  • The diversion for B3150 Bridport Road Eastbound and Westbound will go via B3150 Middlefarm Way, B3150 Bridport Road, Top of Town Roundabout, B3147, Stadium Roundabout, A35 Dorchester Bypass and vice versa.
  • The diversion for traffic going to Martinstown will go via A35 to Winterborne Abbas, B3159 to Martinstown and vice versa.
