East Lancashire presenter, AJ Odudu, has faced an extra challenge this week during Strictly Come Dancing rehearsals after a power cut hit her dance studio.

AJ and her professional dance partner, Kai Widdrington, documented the poorly-timed blackout over on social media.

Posting to his Instagram story, Kai put up a video captioned: “Nothing like a power cut to cut your rehearsals short.”

In the short clip, the pair can barely be seen in the darkness.

Kai said: “Okay – we’ve had a power cut in the studio and we can’t see anything.”

AJ replied: “Kai is secretly loving this he’s like ‘oh! Gotta go home’ and I’m like ‘No! I need more time”.

“No it’s the other way around,” Kai replied. “AJ turned the power off. She wants an early night before the weekend.”

33-year-old AJ said: “Oh I’m stressed,” before Kai signed off the video by saying “See you Saturday”.

AJ and Kai will be dancing the samba to Camilla Cabello’s ‘Don’t Go Yet’. The duo are in a strong position going into week four as they scored 35 points for last week’s (9 October) as they came top of the leader board last week American smooth to 'I Have Nothing' by Whitney Houston.

In her latest Instagram post, AJ said she will be having “nightmares” about her new routine.

She wrote: “Nervous smiling my way out of our last samba dance session to have the most beautiful nightmares about voltas - sweet dreams!”

Kai’s social media post also confirms this. He posted a picture of AJ lying on the floor along with the caption: “Death by samba”.

Earlier this week, AJ and Kai addressed the romance rumours circulating about them.

This comes after Kai told AJ "I love you… I love you so much", after Saturday night’s performance.

Speaking on Strictly: It Takes Two (13 October), the show’s presenter, Janette Manrara, said: "Speaking of romance and the characters, you were both saying you wanted to bringing romance to the floor and I think you really did because Kai you said [I love you] at the end of the performance.

“Do you find you’re getting a bit of a deeper connection,” she said with a wink to the camera.

Kai replied: "I think that was all down to just the tough, tough week that we had and the fact that we got to the end of the performance and it was flawless and you smashed it, and you did all the lifts brilliant, did all the technique perfect.

“We were both relieved. [AJ] was gripping onto my neck.”
