OVER the last 24 hour-hour period a total of 639 new coronavirus cases have been recorded across Dorset, according to the latest statistics.

The latest Government figures show that 639 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the county in the 24 hours leading up to 4pm on Sunday, October 17.

In the Dorset Council area, 361 new cases were reported. Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic there have been 30,122 confirmed cases across this area.

The rolling seven-day period for the Dorset Council area is 1,572 cases with a rate of 413.9 per 100,000 people.

Across the BCP Council area there has been a total of 278 new cases, taking the total number since the start of the pandemic to 48,432.

The rolling seven-day period for the BCP area is 1,278 cases, with a case rate of 321.9 per 100 thousand people.

Elsewhere, the New Forest area recorded 155 new cases bringing the number of confirmed cases for the area to 14,230.

The rolling seven-day period for the New Forest is 732 with a case rate of 407.5 per one hundred thousand people.

Across the whole of the UK today 45,140 new cases were recorded bringing the total since the start of the pandemic to 8,449,165.
