ONE of Bridport's most popular autumnal events is set to return this year after being cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic.

Bonfire by the Beach will be taking place on October 30 at East Beach.

The event is organised by West Bay Days and the Bridport Round Table.

It will take place from 4.30pm and feature fireworks, a Guy Fawkes competition, and of course a bonfire.

The bonfire will be lit shortly after the Guy Fawkes competition, which will be judged at 6pm. Whoever is deemed to have created the best model of Guy Fawkes will win the opportunity to light the fire.

Entry for the event is free, with donations encouraged to raise funds for local groups and causes.

There will be a free bus to take people from Bridport to West Bay, leaving from the town centre bus depot from 5pm.

A fun fair will also be taking place at West Bay throughout the week, from Saturday, October 23 until Sunday, October 31. The fair will feature food outlets and an outside bar, along with live music from 5pm until 9pm.
