DORCHESTER Town are looking to “rectify” the wrongs of Saturday’s 5-1 defeat when Hartley Wintney come to the Avenue Stadium this evening (7.45pm).

The remark is the sentiment of interim boss Brian Churchill who, along with joint caretaker Craig Robinson, watched on as the Magpies conceded five at Chesham United on Saturday.

Dorchester, in 19th, have now lost nine of 12 Pitching In Southern League Premier South games, but could rise above the 17th-placed Row with victory.

Churchill told Echosport: “We are all looking to rectify (Saturday’s) defeat with a decent performance.

“It’s dust ourselves down and go again and eradicate the individual errors.

“We spoke after the game and drew a line under (Saturday’s) game. We are thankful that it’s a quick turnaround.”

Analysing the 5-1 loss to Chesham, Churchill added: “We didn’t start well after all the euphoria of Wednesday night.

“Despite a satisfactory first half we conceded from a set-piece in injury-time and end the half going in 1-0 down.

“Second half was simply not good enough from all concerned. We have let ourselves down and shown a Jekyll and Hyde side to our game which is the biggest disappointment.

“We conceded straight after half-time but then responded really well and gave ourselves a chance when Alfie (Stanley) scored almost immediately.

“We then made a series of individual errors which were punished ruthlessly.”

Dorchester have extended defender Callum Buckley’s loan from Hayes & Yeading for a further month.

Former Aldershot and Weymouth defender Buckley has made 10 appearances in his second loan spell with the Magpies.

However, the Chesham defeat proved to be the final game in a Dorchester shirt for utility player Harry Hodges and striker Rudy Plummer.

Hodges and Plummer have played just eight and four times respectively this season.

Sam Davidson (ankle) is expected to return to training this week, while Tom Soares (hamstring) will be assessed.
