A MAN sustained an eye injury during a vicious attack by four teenagers on Weymouth Esplanade.

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward following an assault that occurred at around 2.05am on Saturday October 2 on The Esplanade near to Astrid Way.

It is reported that the victim – a man aged in his 20s – was walking with a woman when he was assaulted by four male teenagers, described as aged between 16 and 19 years old. He was knocked unconscious and attended hospital for treatment.

It was later established that the victim had sustained an injury to his eye following the assault, which is requiring antibiotics treatment.

Police Constable Charlie Frost, of Dorset Police, said: “We have been carrying out a number of enquiries into this incident so far, including checking local CCTV in the area.

“While I appreciate the incident was a while ago, I am hoping someone may remember witnessing the incident or know who was responsible.

“I would also urge anyone who was driving along The Esplanade in the early hours of Saturday October 2 to please check their dashcam for any footage to help my investigation.”
