A road in North Dorset is partially blocked following a crash involving a motorcyclist this afternoon (Wednesday, October 27).

Emergency services including ambulance and firefighters were called to Melbury Street near White Pit Lane in Melbury Abbas after a crash involving a motorbike after 4pm.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said oil has been split on the road as a result of the crash. 

He said: "We received a report at 4.26pm on Wednesday, October 27 of a single-vehicle collision involving a motorbike on Melbury Street in Melbury Abbas.

"Officers are in attendance with the fire and ambulance services. The local authority has been made aware due to oil on the road."

Interactive traffic maps are reporting slow traffic in the area as motorists carefully travel through the area. 

An update from Travel Dorset reads: "Melbury Street partially blocked, very slow traffic due to accident near White Pit Lane."
