RE: The so-called “re-vamp” of Dorchester South Station.
I absolutely agree with the letter printed from Jeane Holmes.
The main priority at the station should indeed be a passenger lift between the platforms rather than the appearance of the station.
While the toilets and access to the ticket window to help the disabled are much needed, the remainder of the million pounds allocated for the “re-vamp” should be used as a contribution towards the cost of a lift.
Use of the trains should be encouraged and at present the difficulties of climbing up and down 27 stairs with luggage, pushchairs etc. to access a platform mean that many will use cars instead.
