THE mystery surrounding the filming at Dorchester Prison has finally been solved - as it emerged Netflix is using the location to film a popular movie sequel.

As previously reported, crew members have been spotted at the disused site for an untitled production.

Cast members are using a room above Dorchester’s Corn Exchange, in High East Street, as a 'green room' - also referred to as a dressing area.

Security staff have been spotted patrolling the grounds next to the prison while signs for filming can be seen in the area.

A trailer is stationed within the prison entrance belonging to Location One, which is a firm working in the TV, film and events industry.

Mystery has surrounded the production as crews remained tight lipped on the filming.

Residents and business owners in North Square, Friary Hill and Colliton Street have received letters confirming that filming for ‘Street Dogs’ is set to get under way.

According to Production Weekly, Street Dogs is the working title of Enola Holmes 2. Netflix has not officially confirmed the news.

The letter states: “You may have noticed some increased activity at Dorchester Prison over the past weeks.

“We are working at the prison to prepare for our film production, currently titled 'Street Dogs'.

"All filming is contained within the grounds and interior of the Prison, although, there will be increased vehicle movements and activity whilst we are working on site."

Enola Holmes is based on the young adult fiction series which focuses on the teenage sister of the famous Sherlock Holmes and her thrilling adventures.

In the first 28 days after its release last September, Netflix estimated that 76 million households tuned into the film.

Its sequel was officially announced by Netflix in May this year, with Millie Bobby Brown, Henry Cavill and Helena Bonham Carter among the stars to return.

It is not known which cast members will be appearing at Dorchester Prison and little information is known about the filming. Scenes have already been shot in London and Hull for the sequel.

The filming has already sparked a buzz in Dorchester, with nearby residents looking on at the production and keen to get a glimpse of the filming.

Mel Bishop, who lives nearby, was recently able to watch the production from the comfort of her own garden.

In her photos, crew members have been spotted on top of crane and hydraulic platform and on the roof of Dorchester Prison.

The production comes after national agency Casting Collective put a call out for male extras for a major film set in Dorchester which is due to start filming this month.
