BRIAN Stock sang the praises of Weymouth’s match-winner Omar Mussa and claimed: “I’ve not seen a player with his amount of ability”.

Mussa stroked home his first senior goal in the 50th minute against King’s Lynn Town to hand the Terras back-to-back Vanarama National League wins.

Weymouth’s performance was far from perfect, containing an ordinary first half followed by a Josh McQuoid penalty miss in the 58th minute.

However, the Terras were never seriously threatened by King’s Lynn, who had Michael Gyasi sent off for a lunging tackle on Tom Bearwish – 75 seconds after coming on.

Victory reinforced a 2-0 win at Aldershot in midweek, handing Weymouth a second straight clean sheet and boosting Stock’s men to 17th in the table.

Speaking to Echosport, Stock said of Mussa: “I’m buzzing for Omar, we all know what sort of talent he has.

“For me, I’ve not seen a player with his amount of ability. There’s a lot he needs to learn, don’t get me wrong, but there’s a lot I like about Omar.

“We saw it with the calm finish. It’s his first senior goal. He got a little emotional with that and when you get the winner with your first goal, I’m buzzing for him.”

Asked if his goal could be a catalyst to take his already impressive game to the next level, Stock said: “I hope so. He keeps saying:

‘I’m going to score today’. I’m like: ‘Omar, just perform for me, that’ll be fine. If you score, it’s a bonus’.

“He’s got that monkey off his back now and he can kick on from there.”

Mussa’s goal stirred Weymouth to life after the Terras deployed a diamond formation in the first half – untried even in training.

Stock said: “We showed a real composure about us in and around the 18-yard box. We brought Omar into play with a fantastic finish.

“Not only that, one or two other moves I thought were good. Sean Shields hit the bar. The penalty, Josh will probably want to be taken off them now!

“That’s two he’s missed, so we’ll have to assess that in training. But we’re going to enjoy the moment. We highlighted the last three games as really important.

“We’ve got seven points out of a possible nine and I can’t really ask for any more from every single one of them.”

He added: “We had a slight change in formation which we hadn’t worked on in training.

“We did that to try and match them up to try and get the upper hand because we’ve seen (King’s Lynn) have done that and got the upper hand in games.

“We contained them. It gave us a platform to come out second half and work on one or two things.

“I thought the substitutes did amazingly well, ran hard, and the game management and professionalism was excellent from every single one of them.”
