This pre-1957 photo shows the Upwey Wishing Well Halt - just one of five stations that used to exist between Weymouth and Dorchester.

Today, just Upwey Station remains.

Opened in 1905, the halt was designed to capture tourist trade to the wishing well in Upwey, even though it was over a mile away.

It was never that popular with locals due to the very steep steps seen in this photo. Increasing competition from both cars and buses led to the station's closure in 1957. Today, the railway bridge remains.
