TWO people from Dorchester have been fined £1,100 each for breaking lockdown rules in January earlier this year.

Gavin Edward Smith, 30, whose address was given as Great Western Road, was not present at Weymouth Magistrates' Court on Thursday, November 4, when the case against him was proved during a single justice procedure process.

Smith was said to have participated in a gathering of two or more people at a private dwelling in Bitter End, Dorchester, on January 29 this year, when the area was in tier 3 of lockdown restrictions.

As a result Smith received a fine of £1,100 as well as both being ordered to pay a surcharge of £110 and costs of £90.

Chloe Burt, 20, whose address was also given as Great Western Road, was also charged for breaching lockdown rules by attending a gathering of two or more people at a private dwelling in Bitter End, Dorchester, on January 29.

Burt was not present on Thursday, November 4, when her case was proved against her during a single justice procedure process at Weymouth Magistrates Court.

The court handed a £1,100 fine and ordered to pay a surcharge of £110 and costs of £90.
