WEYMOUTH are back in Vanarama National League action away to high-flying Chesterfield tomorrow (3pm).

Brian Stock’s Terras were without a game last weekend due to the FA Cup putting paid to every National League match on the schedule.

An enforced break has given Weymouth a much-needed rest, with an intense training session on Friday before a weekend off.

Training on Monday and Tuesday followed and the Terras were again worked last night before they travel to Derbyshire today.

Stock told Echosport how much good a rest and four solid sessions on the training ground has done his squad.

He said: “We worked them hard Thursday-Friday and gave the players a much-needed rest over the weekend to spend some time with their families over a busy period over Christmas.

“It’s nice to have that downtime. We started the week with a bang in Monday’s training session. The lads look raring to go.

“We go into the weekend with an almost (fully) fit squad.”

Looking at Chesterfield, who have picked up injuries during a packed fixture list, Stock added: “You look at the form we’re on and we’re five unbeaten including the two games against Yeovil.

“Sometimes that momentum you want to continue but I do believe that came at a good time for a rest to recharge our batteries.

“Chesterfield, it’s no secret they’ve got a lot of injuries and a suspension with (Calvin) Miller getting sent off. They’re going to miss him. He’s quite a focal point for their attack.

“With five or six injuries to key players, regardless of who plays, we know what strengths and weaknesses Chesterfield have.

“And, the fact that they have the ability to go and recruit with the budget they have. We’re on guard with that as well.”

Weymouth’s only injury concern is over midfielder Xander McBurnie (Achilles). The Terras are also working on bringing a new winger to the club.
