THE WOW SHOW

Weymouth Pavilion

THE subtitle of this show says it all – The Joy of Musicals – and the young members of Weymouth’s Youth Musical Theatre company brought that joy to sparkling life in a non-stop production on a stage that was full of talent and energy from start to finish.

Hit songs from shows ranging from Elton John’s Rocketman and Les Miserables to Shrek and Funny Girl, were performed by the 21 strong cast as they mixed and matched while singing and dancing the night away in an emotionally charged evening that brought cheers and tears from the appreciative audience.

Devised and directed by Martine Burt with Heather Reed and Sam Ryall supervising the pre-recorded musical accompaniment, it is no small task to present 30 non- stop hit numbers performed by young people ranging from around 12 to 16 years of age.

With songs that ranged from the daft to the delicious and dance routines that the young people performed with skill and superb precision, the show brings out all the best in musical theatre and the amazing self confidence of the cast. This is a production to remember with fondness and is a worthy tribute to the young members as well as their dedicated tutors.

The production continues until Saturday with a matinee and evening performance on that day while in readiness for their production of Grease next April, WOW are holding auditions later in November for new members who are ten years old and above.
