WITH a fully functioning bar complete with brass beer taps, a dartboard and walls adorned with posters, flags and memorabilia, this looks like your traditional local pub.

But this gem is far from your average boozer - it's actually a garden shed in Weymouth.

And now you can show it all the love it deserves by voting for it to win a prestigious accolade.

The competition for Garden Pub Shed of the Year is being run by Pub Shed Radio and Two Fat Blokes bar signs to find the very best in the country.

Currently, Weety’s Bar in Weymouth, originally built in 2010, has made it to the final three of the contest - and time is running out for the public to vote for their favourite.

“To recognise the best of the best Pub Shed Radio & Two Fat Blokes are running a competition for back garden publicans to enter their bar for the converted title Pub Shed of The Year 2021 plus various other prizes for first, second and third places,” said organiser Ashley Turner.

“With hundreds of entries the judges have selected their top three which is now open to public voting.”

The creator of Weety’s Bar has revealed how his pub shed contains some unique items.

He said: “I wanted a traditional pub feel with a nice balance of memorabilia. The brass beer taps are Gulf War veterans: they served with me on the HMS Ark Royal between 2003 and 2004 in the petty officers’ mess.

“When the ship was scrapped I was so glad to acquire them and give them a new lease of life.

“The dartboard belonged to my wife’s late grandfather, I love the fact that it is still being used.”

The Weymouth site has even hosted band rehearsals, birthday parties, work parties, and a charity evening.

However, Weety’s Bar faces stiff competition from The Garden Inn, in the West Midlands, and O’Sullivans, County Durham to be crowned Britain's best garden pub shed.

Organiser Mr Turner said: “During the pandemic the popularity of having your own pub in your garden exploded, we estimate in excess of 300,000 back garden pubs and bars are now in operation.

“Many of these bars are DIY built featuring fully functioning bars with sound systems, pool tables, darts boards, real fires and a huge variety of drinks for friends and family.”
