A CHARITY auction which has been delayed three times finally went ahead at a Bridport pub - and raised more than £1,700.

The Ropemakers played host to a fundraising auction on Sunday, November 7, having been delayed due to Covid restrictions.

In total £1,765 was raised for Weldmar Hospicecare, with a variety of items sold off from a mop and bucket to a commemorative bottle of champagne which celebrated the 40th anniversary of James Bond films.

“My thanks goes to those who dug into their pockets. It takes £18,000 a day to keep the hospice open and we hope this goes a little way to help,” said organiser Roz Copson from Bridport.

“There was a terrific amount of help from those involved throughout the day and evening. Thank you to Geraldine and John from the Ropemakers pub, along with their staff, for putting on the event.”

Under the hammer was an ‘eclectic collection of items donated by friends and colleagues in Bridport’.

Originally the charity auction was set to happen in November last year but as a result of restrictions it was postponed until April, then July before finally taking place this month.

Ms Copson said: “My thanks go to everyone involved including Simon and Susie at Lyme House Auctions. Along with Richards and Sam from Bridport antiques and Allen for their incredible auction expertise. Along with Karen, Anthony and Chris.”
