'NO child should go without at Christmas,' that's the message from a Weymouth printing business which has become the latest organisation to back this year's Dorset Echo Toy Appeal.

Sherrens, based at the Granby Industrial Estate, has backed the campaign for many years and is delighted to be doing so once again in 2021.

“This year it's more important than ever before to support local young people,” said Clive Garman, owner of Sherrens.

“We're backing the Toy Appeal once again because we believe no child should go without on Christmas day.”

Sherrens has donated £100 to this year’s appeal to help give children in the county a present to open on December 25, who might not have one otherwise.

Every penny of each donation goes directly to providing the gifts to those less fortunate in Dorset.

Mr Garman added: "It's a great initiative that enables businesses to give something back to the community."

Sherrens provides a wide range of printing and signage services to its customers from flyers and cards to signs and banners.

Last year, despite the pandemic, the Dorset Echo’s Christmas Toy Appeal raised its greatest ever amount of £5,432.

In 2020 the toy donation boxes were not put out due to the Covid pandemic, but that is not the case this year with Weymouth Rotary helping to collect donated toys and gifts.

Debbie Hellaby, Newsquest group promotions manager, said: “Sourcing, collecting and organising the toys for hundreds of children is not an easy task, the toys are usually matched to the age and interest of each child individually.”

“We are delighted to accept the support of the Weymouth Rotary Club to facilitate the collection and collation of toys.”

Any businesses wishing to make a £100 donation to the 2021 Dorset Echo Toy Appeal should contact maureen.jolliffe@localiq.co.uk or call 01305 830811.

In Dorchester the drop-off points are at Tesco, Toymaster, WH Smith and Boo’s Toyshop, Poundbury.

In Portland they are at Co-Op and Tesco in Easton, while in Bridport the bins are located at Morrisons and Toymaster.
