A STUDENT at a Dorset college is competing at a national championships to find the best skilled tradesman this week.

Charley Evans is attends Weymouth College and is participating in the bricklaying category at the Construction Industry Training Board’s (CITB) SkillBuild National Finals 2021.

As reported, Charley is one of fifty-four finalists from all over the UK who have made it through to the qualifying rounds, held remotely, to the finals.

The event is being held in Bircham, Norfolk, at the CITB’s National Construction College where entrants can ‘showcase their talents and build vital life skills for a long-term career in construction’.

The competition takes place over three days from Tuesday until tomorrow, November 18, with a final for each individual skill area.

At the event Mr Evans will be set an 18-hour project in bricklaying, to complete across three days alongside the other SkillBuild National finalists.

Unfortunately due to the pandemic there will be no audience participation, however, accompanying adults and a small selection of invited guests have been allowed to attend.
