A SCHOOL in Dorchester is in the running to win a share of a £1million pot to create a new outdoor activity facility - and there is just days left to vote for it to win the money.

St Osmund’s CE Middle School in Dorchester is representing Persimmon Homes South Coast in the housebuilder’s Building Futures competition - and is in with a chance of walking away with up to £100,000.

The school, in Barnes Way, has been shortlisted along with 95 other groups from across England, Wales and Scotland in categories targeting grassroots sports, health organisations and arts and education projects.

The school aims to create a significant outdoor facility to encourage healthy and regular exercise, with an activity trail to make a daily habit of movement and fresh air, away from a screen.

Online voting runs until midnight on November 19.
