A MAN has appeared in court and denied stalking a woman in the Weymouth area.

Graham Harmes, aged 68, is accused that between June 8 and September 25 in Weymouth, he allegedly caused a woman ‘serious alarm or distress’, namely attended her address without consent on at least two occasions, gained/forced entry, glued locks at a property, stole and damaged items and sunk a yacht belonging to her.

Within the stalking charge, he is also accused of unwanted communications and putting her property on the market for sale without her consent.

Harmes, who appeared via video link from HMP Lewes, confirmed his full name, date of birth and address at Weymouth Magistrates’ Court. When asked to enter a plea, he said “absolutely not guilty”.

The case was adjourned for a pre-trial hearing at Bournemouth Crown Court on Monday, December 20.

Harmes was remanded in custody at HMP Lewes.
