MAIDEN NEWTON & CATTISTOCK RES 2

PORTLAND TOWN III 3

PORTLAND Town Thirds gave manager Steve Prout the perfect present on his 69th birthday with a rare 3-2 win at Maiden Newton & Cattistock Reserves in Dorset League Division Five.

Prout boosted his side at Kennel Road with several new signings including goalscorer and man of the match Josh Priddice

Town went behind early on as Maiden took advantage of the slope for 1-0. Just before the break, however, in-form striker Dean Ginifer netted a sweet equaliser for 1-1.

Portland really took control in the second half adding two more goals to move 3-1 up courtesy of Priddice and Kevin Paice before Maiden made it 3-2 and a tense 15 minutes.

However, Town held on to take away all three points and kick-start Prout's birthday celebrations.

Prout said “I was dreaming about this all week. The lads never let me down. They never do. They battle every minute or every game whatever the outcome.

"I think we got what we deserved and I can now celebrate my birthday in style. Up the Town!"
