A MOVE could be on the cards for a performing arts school and college on the Ferndown Industrial estate.

A planning application lodged with Dorset Council by Studio One Ltd and the Dorset Foundation College says it wants to move to a new site on the estate which would mean agreeing a change of use for the existing building.

The site, at 104 and 106 Cobham Road, is currently vacant but had been used prior to August 2019 by the Tar-Mac Surfacing Company.

If approved it would be used for two studios for students, aged 3 to 18, including those studying up to A level in dance and performing arts.

It says the centre would also offer specific courses for adults.

The school has been based on Ferndown Industrial Estate since 1998, initially at a property in Telford Road, then expanding into Cobham Road and Whittle Road before moving to the current base at 100 Cobham Road in 2017.

The proposal is for a change of use and involves no external or internal alterations to the building. The site is said to have enough parking space for almost 30 cars.
