A WEYMOUTH man is to appear in court charged with criminal damage, drug possession and assaulting a police constable.

Robert James McCrystal, aged 36, of The Coppice in Chickerell, admitted damaging the rear windscreen of a Toyota Yaris to the value of £115 on February 5 this year. he also admitted to being in possession of 4.11 grams of cannabis and 16.8 grams of amphetamine, both of which are controlled drugs of class B.

It is also alleged that on the same date McCrystal assaulted a man by beating him, which he denies. He also denies a further charge of assaulting an emergency worker acting in the functions as such a worker, namely a police constable, by beating him. All the alleged offences are said to have taken place in Weymouth.

The case was due to be heard at Weymouth Magistrates' Court on November 15 but has been adjourned to February 8 2022.
