BBC Radio 4's Zeb Soames is to narrate a Christmas concert in Dorchester.

Festive music will be performed by Opus Anglicanum at St Mary's Church in the county town on Wednesday, December 8 at 8pm.

On this inspiring journey the audience will encounter festive music performed for centuries in great cathedrals as well as more intimate works, such as those written for seasonal feasts in collegiate halls; but the identity of most of the composers remains a mystery.

Dorchester Arts Artistic Director Mark Tattersall said “Opus Anglicanum bring their most popular Christmas event to St Mary's Church - an event that sells-out each year at Wells Cathedral. Experience a candlelit journey into the spiritual heart of a medieval Christmas with a programme of wonderful medieval music and readings, Gregorian chant and polyphony.”

The readings, performed by BBC Radio's Zeb Soanes, invite the listener to encounter great medieval spiritual thinkers, poets and artists.

Tickets are £15 full price or £13 for members of Dorchester Arts. Call 01305 266926 or buy them in person at the Corn Exchange (weekdays 10am - 4pm) or online at dorchesterarts.org.uk/whats-on
