A DRUNK boyfriend slapped his partner multiple times and put his hands around her neck, a court heard.

Rafal Rolinski, 47, was arrested at his home in Ranelagh Road in Weymouth following a call to police from his partner who said he ‘had hit her in the face’ on Sunday, July 11.

The victim also disclosed that Rolinski 'strangled her for a split second’ and also threw a wireless speaker at her the day before.

Prosecuting, Richard Oakley, explained how the victim had two small marks on her face while Rolinski was ‘intoxicated and was unsteady on his feet’.

He told Weymouth Magistrates’ Court: “The officers had asked what had happened and she indicated to two small marks on her face.

“The victim indicated to her left hand and implied this is what he had done. Later, they took further details from her and she said that the defendant had slapped her four to five times to the face.

“She also said on the previous day (Saturday, July 10), again after he had been drinking, he had put his hands around her throat for a second and hit her on the back but she said no injuries occurred on that occasion.”

Concerns were also raised when two children, aged 11 and 17, were living in the property.

When interviewed by police, Rolinski recalled assaulting his partner. He told officers that the scratches on his face were due to an argument where the victim ‘scratched him to get him off her’.

Rolinski also admitted ‘he had problems with alcohol and he was an alcoholic’ and admitted that he ‘becomes aggressive when he drinks’.

Rolinski, a Polish national, of Ranelagh Road, Weymouth, previously pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman at his address on two dates.

The victim ‘has not been supportive’ throughout the investigation and declined to share a statement. She shared she had forgiven Rolinski and they were still together.

Mitigating, Lee Christmas, said Rolinski is remorseful of his actions and blamed the argument and physical assaults on consuming too much alcohol.

Addressing magistrates, he said: “You will give him credit for his full guilty plea, she was not supportive of the conviction and you will give him credit for previous good character, and he co-operative with the police and made full and frank admissions.

“He has reconciled with his partner and he is back together and you will see in the pre-sentence report that he is working long hours.”

Rolinski was issued a 12-month community order and must undertake up to 14 Rehabilitation Activity Requirement days.

He was also ordered to pay a £400 fine, £95 victim surcharge and court costs of £85.
