In these dark wintry days it is a good time to remind drivers of road etiquette.
Firstly, it is actually against the law to keep your engine running unless stuck in traffic.
It should not be just to warm your car in the mornings. or while you scrape off the ice.
This is because it causes pollution (not to mention waking up your neighbours!). Last year police actually took keys out of such vehicles – yours could be next.
Secondly, don’t keep your foot on the brake when caught in traffic or traffic lights after dusk.
The lights can blind the driver behind you. Cyclists please wear light clothing and use lights. We encountered two such idiots in less than 10 minutes today.
If people followed these rules we would all be a lot safer.
