PORTLAND Christmas Sparkle will return with a packed programme of stalls, singing, entertainment and fairground rides on Friday, December 10.

The event will return this year at Easton Gardens from 5pm to 8pm.

Following the official opening by Portland’s Mayor, Sandy West, local choir members will lead a merry sing song around the Christmas tree which marks the start of a full musical line-up running all the way through until 8pm.

All Saints Church will be holding a carol service at 6pm, while visitors can browse a range of craft and gift stalls in the Community 2000 Hall set up by residents and local organisations.

Santa and his sleigh will also be parking up outside the venue to say hello to guests, courtesy of Portland Rotarians.

There will be much more for revellers to enjoy in Easton Gardens, including donkey rides, a children’s fairground and food and gift stalls. Cycling Without Age will be offering trishaw rides and Portland’s Fire, Police and Coastguard will be on site for a chat.

The event will be set to a musical back drop from the Portland Choir at 6pm and local band Sleigher belting out some 50s hits from 7pm.

Refreshments will be available from the Methodist Hall, C2000 and Portland Town Council's stand in Easton Gardens.

Royal Manor Theatre will perform an excerpt of their version of Alice in Wonderland in the Methodist Hall at 6.30pm followed by more joyful singing with the Portland Community Choir at 7pm.

A spokesperson for the extravaganza said: "Sparkle promises to be a fantastic evening full of fun, friendship and festivities. Many shops in Easton will be open late so make sure you bring your Christmas list!

"We very much look forward to seeing you there."
