A CHURCH has cancelled its Christmas carol service over concerns about the rising number of Covid cases in its community.
St George's Church on Portland has made the decision to cancel its carol service which was due to take place on December 6 at 6pm.
A spokesman for the Friends of St George's said: "It is with regret that this event has been cancelled due to increasing numbers of Covid on Portland."
Portland Town Council said that the church will be open each night on the week of December 5 for one hour for visitors where the trees will be lit up and a small festive refreshment will be on offer.
This will be from 6pm to 7pm Monday to Thursday, and 4pm to 5.15pm on Friday.
