A SUSPICIOUS object was pulled from the water near Weymouth Harbour - which led to a coastguard crew being called to the scene.
On Saturday (December 4) evening, a crew from Wyke Coastguard were called to Stone Pier, in Weymouth, after an angler pulled what was believed to be ordnance from the water.
After arrival, the coastguard crew took pictures of the object, which were then sent to a relevant agency to make sure it was safe.
A spokesman from Wyke Coastguard said: "At 7pm, we were called to investigate reports of possible ordnance.
"An angler recovered an object from the water whilst fishing on the Stone Pier.
"He thought it could be ordnance and dialled 999 asking for the Coastguard.
"Once on scene photographs were taken and sent to the relevant agencies.
"The object was declared safe so the team returned to their Saturday evenings."
