THREE people have been injured in a house fire that sparked a major emergency response in Dorset this morning, with crews still in attendance.

Multiple teams of firefighters from around the county were called to the blaze at Acreman Street, Cerne Abbas, at around 7.05am.

Casualties have been treated for burns, with three people taken to hospital by ambulance.

Upon arriving at the scene crews discovered a fire in a log shed at the side of the house which had spread into the property, quickly calling for assistance and more fire engines.

Crews from Dorchester, Sherborne, Weymouth, Beaminster and Sturminster Newton have all been in attendance this morning.

"In total eight fire engines attended with a water carrier and command support vehicle," a Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said.

"Six breathing apparatus wearers, three hose reel jets and three main lines were used.

"Two casualties were passed to the care of the South West Ambulance Service suffering minor injuries.

"Crews remain in attendance checking dampening down and checking the property."

A spokesperson for South Western Ambulance Service said: "We received a call at 7.15am today to a report of casualties with burns due to a house fire in Cerne Abbas. "Three patients were conveyed to Dorset County Hospital.’’
