MORE than 700 new Covid cases have been recorded across Dorset, according to the latest figures.

The latest data from the Government shows a total of 739 new cases across the whole of the county in the 24 hours up to 4pm on Saturday, December 11.

In the Dorset Council area, 321 new infections have been seen across the past day bringing the total to 46,708.

Over the past seven days, the 2,239 new positive results were confirmed giving a case rate of 589.5 per 100,000 people.

418 new Covid-19 cases were confirmed across the BCP Council area. The new inflections bring the total number of cases across the area to 66,257.

Over the past seven days, 2,630 new positive results were confirmed giving a rate of 662.5 per 100,000 people.

The total sum of Covid-19 cases across the entire Dorset country now stands at 112,965.

In the New Forest, 146 people have tested positive for the coronavirus bringing the total to 21,535 since March 2020.

The rate across the New Forest district for the past seven days stands at 587.3.
