WEYMOUTH and Portland Lions Club have donated £1,000 to food banks in the area in a bid to ‘bring a little Christmas cheer’ on December 25.
Club President Kevin Brookes dropped in unannounced on volunteers in Littlemoor on Wednesday morning to donate £500 to Weymouth Food Bank.
An additional £500 gift was handed over to Portland Food Bank at a time when it is needed most.
Mr Brookes said: “Christmas is always such a difficult time for some families, who sadly still must rely on our food banks for help.
“The last couple of years have been hard enough for us all, but all the local food banks in our area have been as busy as ever doing great work. These donations are well deserved.”
Weymouth and Portland Lions have supported local food banks in the area for several years now, making regular donations to assist them in their work.
