A POPULAR music festival has announced its line up and a new venue for its long-awaited return in 2022.

Music by the Lake, organised by Weldmar Hospicecare took place at Kingston Maurward in Dorchester and attracted thousands of visitors when it was first held in July 2019.

The event was scheduled to take place again in 2020 but was postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic. Organisers had hoped to hold the event again in 2021 but made the decision to hold the next Music by the Lake in 2022 instead.

Weldmar Hospicecare’s music event has announced a line up of top UK tribute acts due to perform at the upcoming event which will take place at the Dorset County Showground for the weekend long, live music extravaganza, which takes place between Friday, June 24 and Sunday, June 26.

Acts booked to perform include Tribute to the Bee Gees, The Ultimate George Michael, Totally Tina with the music of Tina Turner, Le Freak - an outstanding Nile Rogers and Chic tribute, a tribute to The Drifters, and The Jerseys, featuring the songs of Frankie Valli.

All proceeds from festival go to Weldmar Hospicecare.

Alaine Harman from Weldmar said: “We are so excited to be bringing Music By The Lake back to Dorchester next year, as we missed both 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic. Our new venue of Dorset County Showground will allow more people to experience some of the UK’s very best tribute bands, with our terrific line up.”

“Every ticket sold will help Weldmar Hospicecare to continue to provide end of life care to every adult who needs it in Dorset, as well as providing support to their loved ones.”

Tickets are now on sale at a discounted early bird rate, and children under fourteen years of age are free.
