FOLLOWING the Christmas break, both Dorchester’s first and second XVs head back into league action.

Dorchester’s first team host Swindon College Old Boys in the Tribute Southern Counties South at Surcouf Park tomorrow (2.15pm).

Head coach Josh Ovey will be hoping his selection difficulties are behind him with players rested and recovered from injuries over the break. He does however have to contend with a number of squad members testing positive for Covid-19.

Both James Baker and James Cooper recovered from injuries they both return to the squad with Baker likely starting.

Alex Sharp and Brad Mullins share the second row with Adam Makepeace out with broken ribs, whilst Callum King moves to fly-half and George Foot to centre.

Dorchester currently sit sixth in the table with Swindon College Old Boys one place off the bottom. However back in October when they met in Swindon, the home side got the better of the game in appalling conditions coming out 31-10 victors.

With Dorchester’s home advantage at Surcouf Park, they will look to reverse the scoreline.

Dorchester currently occupy sixth in the table, eight points behind Swanage & Wareham in fifth spot.

The county town’s A XV head east to Christchurch in a second versus third in the table clash in the Tribute Dorset & Wilts Two South.

Both sides met back in October in the first game of the season with Dorchester picking up the win in a close fought match.

Captain Matt Fry is still injured but urging his team on from the touchline, whilst Deklyn Bane continues his fine run at centre. Two more of Dorchester’s colts step up to senior rugby as Slade Collins and Cohen Emery make their debuts.

Sunday will see three matches at Surcouf Park with the U15s taking on Sherborne in the D&W cup, while the Colts lock horns with near neighbours Weymouth and Ridgeway Roses tackle Melksham Ladies, kick-offs at 12.30, 1.30 and 2pm respectively.

Elsewhere in the men’s game, Weymouth & Portland continue their pursuit of top spot in Tribute Dorset & Wilts One South away to Oakmeadians (2pm).

Division rivals Puddletown host Salisbury Seconds, while Bridport host North Dorset at the Brewery Ground (both 2pm).
