A FOOTBALL club provided a generous donation to a food bank in a bid to support people in the community struggling financially.
Portland United FC provided a collection of items to the island's food bank to help those less fortunate over the festive period.
A spokesman for the football club said: "Portland United Football Club was busy over the festive period collecting donations for the Portland Food Bank.
"We were delighted to welcome Reverend Tim Gomm to a game as we presented the Portland Food Bank with donations for Christmas.
“Our community is very important to us as a club and we are delighted to be able to help in this way."
The Portland Food Bank is located at Verne Common Road at St John's Church and serves those in need in the local community.
