RESIDENTS are being invited to Weymouth Town Council's first Full Council meeting of the year tonight, where the draft budget and council tax rates will be discussed.

Councillors will debate a recommendation for a 0 per cent increase to the precept for 2022/23. If approved, it means that Weymouth Town Council will be charging the same amount per household via the council tax bill.

That would mean the average Band D property would continue to pay £185.69 a year.

Weymouth Town Council provides a number of services, including maintaining the award-winning beach that attracts more than a million visitors each year, nine public toilet buildings, 33 parks and open spaces, 353 allotments, nine cemeteries, numerous public events including Armed Forces weekend, as well as maintaining the town’s memorials and monuments.

Other items on the agenda include an opportunity for members of the public to ask a question, plans to introduce a Single Use Plastic policy, and the town council’s response to Dorset Council’s Air Quality Action Plan.

The meeting will be streamed on Weymouth Town Council's Facebook page from 7pm.
