TWO drivers were handed £100 penalty fines for getting behind the wheel of a vehicle that's MOT had expired more than a year ago.

Members of Dorset Police’s Traffic Cop team were patrolling around south Dorset in Weymouth and Portland when they came across the two separate incidents yesterday.

Both cars in question were found to have had their MOT expire more than a year ago.

A Dorset Police Traffic Cops spokesperson said: “We moved on to deal with more document offences of a different kind, finding two separate vehicles in two different areas of the borough that were MOT’d within a day of each other 15 months ago.

“These drivers parted from us with £100 penalties each.”

The same police team also seized two vehicles in the south Dorset area while out on patrol yesterday.
