STAFF at a Dorset nursery are proud to have received a glowing Ofsted report following a recent inspection.

Dorchester Community Nursery School in York Road received an overall effectiveness rating of good.

The preschool obtained a ‘good’ marking in five areas and outstanding in another, for behaviour and attitude - much to the delight of nursery head Helen Christopher.

Mrs Christopher said: “I am very pleased with our recent Ofsted visit and report. I was especially pleased to have received an outstanding in behaviour and attitude.

“I would like to thank the children, parents and staff who all helped us receive such a glowing report and I am very proud of them all.”

Dorchester Community Nursery School was praised for its staff acting as excellent role models and giving clear emphasis to helping children understand their emotions and those of others.

Inspectors were also impressed by how the management team and other colleagues worked together effectively, how staff promote the children’s communication and language very well through play and that the toddlers are motivated to learn through a variety of activities.

Other areas highlighted in the Ofsted report included good health being promoted effectively, developing the imagination skills of toddlers well and encouraging the development of their confidence.

Parents are also said to speak highly of staff, particularly that team members consider the needs of all children.

The Ofsted report did add that the nursery could improve its setting by allowing children time to process their thoughts to respond and express their ideas as well as making more use of opportunities for children to understand about linking numerals.

The inspection originally took place on November 25 with the report published in late December.

At the time there were 45 children on roll, with an age range of two to four-years-old.

Staff members were pleased with their latest inspection having last had Ofsted round in 2015 when they also obtained an overall rating of ‘good’.

The nursery paid their thanks to all their staff members, children and parents in light of their recent inspection result.
